2008 International MR2 Meeting

Dear all,

Let me introduce myself first. My name is Alberto Pastor (nick: spynish) and I'm from the Spanish MR2 Club.

From an initiative arised on some MR2 forums ( MR2 Roadster Owners' Club , MRS PASSION and Club Toyota MR2 )we are organizing an International MR2 Meeting on August, 2008.

We launched a forum for the occasion and we have been working hard.
The planning is already done. We will cross Europe from Austria to France going across north Italy and Switzerland to enjoy superb Alps roads:



To end with, we have booked a circuit:

Circuit du Laquais > L'arène des sports mécaniques en Rhône-Alpes



We're in the course of creating a non profit organization to manage everything, specially legal issues. All money got will be rebated to clubs participating.

MR2 Clubs from England, France and Spain are already involved and many others in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium... are participating also, so we thought you would like to know about this event.

Would there be anywhere to rent an MR2, Elise or Exige, that you know of?

For those that would consider coming from this side of the pond, is it possible to meet for only a couple days, so the rest could be spent travelling elsewhere in Europe?

Its fairly easy to hire an elise over here, but the cost ($200/day) is a bit prohibitive.

Hi all,

Ok mates, too many difficulties since the expected rooms are from 40 rooms to 80 on last weekend.

At last I can assure we're working with booking.com and by the end o this week I will post how to proceed. I will post the clear instructions.

First we'll book the hotels giving our credit card data to booking.com and in a 2nd step we'll pick up some money to pay circuit and other expenses.

Dear all,

Is time to move.

All of you interested in coming to the Greatest International MR2 meeting ever, please follow this steps to Register in this one in life time event:

Option 1. Full route: August, 9th to 16th:

1º Pre-Registration until Wednesday, February 20th:

Please send a mail to: clubmr2@clubmr2.es including all your personal data:

- Name and surname
- Country
- Contact phone number
- Contact e-mail
- Specify: Option 1. Full route

2º Registration until Friday, February 29th:

Please deposit an amount of 200 Euros in an account number that will be sent to you by e-mail after pre-registration. This money will be used to book Circuit du Laquais.

3º Booked hotels will contact you to formalise you room bookings. This is why it is very important you send your correct contact phone number and email.

4º In May-June you will be asked to deposit another 500 Euros to cover the rest of the expenses but the hotels. Hotels will charge directly the cost on your credit cards (800 Euros for 8 nights) after the event.

As a reminder, the price for the whole route is 1500 euros/car and will include:

- hotels (8 nights)
- breakfasts (7, of course for 2 passengers per car)
- restaurants (7 dinners for 2)
- lunches for 2 (7 restaurants or picnics)
- the roadbook
- almost unlimited access to the track (of course, it'll depend on the number of registrered cars)
- And much more... (we're working to have a staff car, with tools, some tires, first aids kit, etc.)



Option 2. Weekend around France, including Laquais Circuit: August, 14th to 16th:

1º-3º Steps: Same procedure. Please specify on your mail you want to come only these days and if you need a room for day 16th.

4º. In May-June you will be asked to deposit antoher 200Euros to cover the rest of the expenses but the hotels. Hotels will charge directly the cost on your credit cards (200-300 Euros for 2-3 nights) after the event.

The price for the weekend option is 600-700 euros/car and will include:

- hotels (2-3 nights)
- breakfasts (2-3, of course for 2 passengers per car)
- restaurants (2-3 dinners for 2)
- lunches for 2 (2 restaurants or picnics)
- the roadbook
- almost unlimited access to the track (of course, it'll depend on the number of registrered cars)
- And much more... (we're working to have a staff car, with tools, some tires, first aids kit, etc.)


Limited places, so if you want to come please do it as soon as possible.

This is going to be unforgetable, I'm sure...

Now, in all honesty the money is not the big issue here. Althought don't get me wrong, $3000 for this trip is a bit hefty, but never the less it is possible considering the time there is to gather it. But what do we do about driving out there? I think that's the bigger issue. How do we get our cars over there?

Sounds like a great trip! But I also post the same question. Are there options to get our own car there legally? Or will we have to rent a car when we get there?

I don't understand your question... Do you mean if your driving license is valid for driving in Europe? Renting a car is not difficult, but to find and MR2 to hire is almost impossible...
