2nd Annual Florida MR2 Spring Fling

So it has come time to get things rolling on the Spring 2009 MR2 event in Florida. We had a great time last year and would like to build on it to make this years event even better. So lets get the word out to the other msg boards, MR2 owners, and possible sponsors. Remember last year we had almost 70 MR2s and well over 100 people attend. The event website and registration form are up and running. Please visit: Pre-Pay
There is no cost to fill out the registration form. But if you think or plan on attending, please fill it out. It helps us a TON in planning the event. Also the paypal links are up to prepay for the show-n-shine on Saturday. The cost is $20 preshow and $25 day of. You will get an event tshirt, profressional 8x10 photo, and a goodie bag. This is the main way we make money to help pay for the show, shirts, awards, photographer and everything else. Most of us do not have show cars, so don't worry if yours is not either. Its a great way to make a lot of new friends and see a lot of MR2s in one place.

Fri - 17th - Hotel meet and greet, then over to Orlando Speed World for some 1/4 mile action

Sat - 18th - Show-n-shine and night time partying at Old Town
- MR2 Only Magazine will be on hand doing a full feature on the event as well as sponsoring the best of show award and more. The best of show winner will also get their own full coverage story in MR2 Only.

Sun - 19th - Autocross with the Central FL SCCA group at their new Geneva facility

6:00-10:30 PM 1/4 Mile Drag Racing

Saturday April 18th:

9:00 AM - Show-n-Shine roll in

Last year was a multiple day, weekend event.

I had to work that weekend, but i'll be trying my best to make it out to this one.

Last Year was a two day event. Friday night was a meet at the drag strip. Then Saturday, the day I went, was held in Old town/Orlando. Saturday was a "show-n-shine" in a parking lot. I'm not organizing the event, but we're all looking to get a bigger area. Last year it was in a parking lot. I'm not sure about this year though. I think some people stayed in Sunday and drove around together on the highway. We don't have very much planning done yet. We're just starting.

We had a great time last year. With the drag racing friday night and the show-n-shine on saturday. We stayed up and partied at Old Town for most of the night, and cruised home Sunday. We have a few ideas for this year, one being an autocrossing/track day. But we need some serious helpers with getting that together. We'll keep this thread and the one on FLMR2s.com updated with any new info, but please do not hesitate to contact me either here or on FLMR2s.com. Last year we saw almost 70 MR2s and over 100 people. We missed last years due to being busy with getting the shop equipped and traveling. Test & tune at Orlando Friday night and show on Sat. would be the best location. There are alot of scenic roads towards the cape and U.S.1 that are usually free of orange cones and heavy traffic.

Friday 17th, meet and great at the hotel, then Orlando Speed World for some 1/4 mile action

Saturday 18th, Show-n-Shine and night party at Old Town USA (Old Town: Shopping, Dining, Entertainment Attraction, Amusement Park and Car Cruises in Kissimmee, Florida)

Sunday 19th, Autocross at the new Geneva location with the Cen FL autocross club (ill get the right acronym and post it with a link soon)
