MR2 Guru hosted Meet Saturday, April 22!!! (Make-up Date)
Original Meet Thread:
http://www.mr2board.com/forums/mr2-m...th-2006-a.html Since our last planned date was unfortunately snowed out, we decided as a whole to reschedule the meet for a more reliable weather month, such as April. Thus far the date is set to April 22nd which falls on a Saturday and is after our favorite tax deadline. I hope the response is as good as the last, so lets start posting! A drive will most definately be in the equation this time, as the Parkway will have reopened and the mountain passes should be clear. I would also love to make this a weekend event for those that have the time. The main day should remain Saturday, but I would like to add some nice activities for Friday evening and Sunday morning/afternoon if any of you can spend the weekend. I am open to ideas and suggestions on this, so feel free to post away. I am going to try to set up a better dinner idea as far as not having a set menu. That can become annoying, but as well as the dinner went for the group that did come on the 18th, a buffet style dinner is definately easiest and fastest. Something like Ryan's or Golden Corral may be a good option, this is also up for suggestion. Keep in mind that if it is like last time and we have 50+ cars attending it will need to accomodate a very large group so something like Subway would not cut it .Thats all the official info as of yet, but the date should/needs to stay the same for planning reasons. Make your arrangments with work etc. and I will start in to work on Hotel accomodations and such. If you can get off work Friday-Sunday to spend the weekend, try and do that. Even if you do not wish to spend all 3 days in your MR2, Asheville is a tourist town and there is plenty of road, shops, boutiques, landmarks etc. to cover around here. Dont forget about the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn if you bring the wife! |

I'm def. coming with my wife, and I think some of my other friends are meeting that weekend to do the tail of the dragon, and the parkway and some other mystery roads they mentioned. I dunno if they are coming to the meet, or if I'm just going to meet up with them afterwards.

Boone is pretty much exactly 1,000ft higher elevation then Asheville, and the Linn Cove Viaduct is right after Blowing Rock which has the coolest drive and best veiw of the entire parkway. Also hwy221 is directly beside of it which is one of the closest roads to the dragon I've seen. Last time I was raising hell through there I was in a pretty much drift around a turn when I see a cop car and first responder car parked but no one in sight, I looked up and about 50 feet above us is the two guys sitting on a giant rock eating lunch, I thought well might as well give them a show and just waved ![]() |
