NASA Midwest @ Autobahn Country Club Joliet Il July 22-23

Greetings!

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Midwest region would like to invite you to check out our upcoming events! We are creating more opportunities in the midwest to participate in high performance autosports for all skill levels. We've got something to interest any driver ranging from High Performance Driving Events (HPDE), to time trials (TT) to wheel to wheel Competition Race classes.

NASA HPDE is a fantastic opportunity for drivers of any skill level. Our four run group format provides a chance for drivers of varied experience levels to develop their skills in a carefully regulated environment. This program is designed to help drivers work towards wheel to wheel racing and advancement is possible through instructor sign off.

HPDE 1
This is where new drivers begin. Throughout the event you will have classroom/download sessions designed to accomplish a few different things. This includes letting you know what to expect, giving you an overview of the skills you will be developing, familiarizing you with the track and to give you feedback after track sessions. You will have an instructor with you in the car during all of your track time sessions in this group.

HPDE 2
Once your instructor has determined you are capable of applying what you have learned in HPDE 1 on your own and you feel ready for the next step you will be advanced to HPDE 2. Drivers in this group will typically run on the track the same time as HPDE 1 so instructors will still be able to observe you and provide feedback but they won't be in the car.

HPDE 3
You have progressed to the world of high performance driving. The speeds are faster in this group and passing zones are expanded. There is no longer any scheduled instructor presence however drivers are always encouraged to ask instructors to ride along. HPDE 3 is when drivers are allowed to start carrying passengers.

HPDE 4
This group involves open passing (no passing restricted zones) and is the last stop on the HPDE trek before you progress to Time Trials or wheel to wheel racing. Those drivers in this group that are interested in moving on to racing are encouraged to rent or purchase transponders so they can see how their times stack up. HPDE 4 will typically share the track with the time trials group.

NASA Time Trial is a national competition program, utilizing regional series based on a time trial style format, with rules that establish car classifications to provide a contest of driver skill. NASA TT is designed to bridge the gap between NASA HPDE, and wheel-to-wheel racing. You can learn more about NASA Time Trials here: http://nasa-tt.com/About.
