blown head gasket 87 7 rib bluetop 79xxx
bought this car a month ago.
And now i think the head gasket is blown... white smoke, smells really rich, engine stutters really bad and getting worse (but runs fine at idle, no lopping ). would a swap (red-top) be worth the extra money? Anyone have a GZE in the SF Bay Area? What shops could help me with this swap? how much would this swap cost? how cost effective is a swap vs. getting the head gasket fixed? I had planned on doing suspension work for now (just bought ST sways, bushing kit, quaife steering rack), but now that the head-gasket is blown, I might be looking at making power now while i don't have a running engine in the car. |

you could get away with just replacing the headgasket at around $300 I imagine.
But it all depends on how much you want to spend or have to spend, because on a swap its the motor set, harness, and then all the little stuff you never think about to begin with that eats up money. But if your in Cali your stuck either getting a GZE or another 16v NA motor due to emission and swapping laws. |
