I'm going to keep asking this question (twice now ) until one of you dirt racers (or drifters)answer it: When you are in a turn, and sliding, do you keep you foot in the throttle (and how much), or do you let off---slide----and then reapply throttle when you feel grip?
I'm just trying to get an answer to an old question from an old mr2 village where no one could definitively answer the question because there were NO dirt racers! It would help to answer a serious suspension/handling problem of just what to do when a rear engined car is in a "slide"; do you apply throttle to transfer the weight to the rear, or not? As to your question, I don't know---get a block off plate and tell us about it!

Its a mid-engine car... Almost the entire engine is ahead of or even with the rear axle, so it is a true mid-engine car.

And yes you can block off the EGR without worrying about the car. It should run just fine.

2restomod: It would kinda depend on the angle of the slide, the condition of the road, the slope of the corner (or road surface). As to how you would keep the car under control.

It also depends on the setup of the car as well. Over steer understeer, etc.

Do you ask this because you want to get into drifting with the 2?

I used to race with SCCA and once went into a wall because i just "rode out" a spin instead of applying throttle. I just have always wondered if I should have applied the throttle as the slide started instead of pushing in the clutch and applying the brakes (as we were taught at the driving school). I was asking specifically about a dirt track because I would think that would be the definitive way to answer the question on whether you "wait out the slide" or you "apply throttle" throughout the slide to maintain traction. I have my own opinion about it but I've never found a spot to "drift" experiment or done any dirt racing.
To get back on topic: I've got a jdm exhaust manifold that does not have a port for the egr pipe if you want to go that route.

when the track is tacky i can hold it to the floor. with stagger in the rear wheels it actually turns the car with the accelerator. when it becomes dry slick you have to finess it a little.on and off , on and off ect. there is not much time to correct coming out of the corner. i usually loop it exiting the corner, no where else. but as for while you are looping , i just try to stomp it and get the hell outta peoples way.......i never put it in neutral and apply the brakes. i have totalled 2 cars spinning in front of the field......hope that helps ya mod. 3d

they are the 4cyl. class.....aka hornets, which r bone stock. mini or pony stock, which u can upgrade from stock. they r raced all over the usa. ive only seen 1 other mr2, it was dead at the track, guy let me pick parts off it , said he couldnt drive it. the 1 i just picked up is in real good shape, thought crossed my mind to keep it street legal. what do ya think its worth? 88 n/a manual doors, brand new 30 over engine with new paint ??

Thanks. As far as price on the new one, you might show him this: you could say i stole this mk1 J/K Anywhere from there, up to $1500 depending on the shape I'd say. Edit: whoops, I thought you were looking at a new one to buy.
