Idle problem

Ok so i bought an 88 MR2 a couple of months ago for $450. It was running weird so i checked all the majors and found the injectors clogged. I cleaned the injectors and throttle body just for good luck. It runs great i can tell there is no problems with the engine. The only problem im having now is the idle. It with jump between 1500 and 2500rpm's. I went to the local toyota dealer for parts on my fx16 and talked to the guys about it. There i was told to check the cooling system. It was full of rust and dirt and grime. So i flushed it as best i could. At some point it would maintain an idle at 1500rpm's as soon as i rev it up it goes back to the iratic idle. I also replaced the mass air flow sensor with one from a fx16 cause the one on it looked like somone had been in it. I checked for vacum leaks cause the idle screw doesnt change anything when i adjust it. Im lost at what to do. I think if it keeps up im either going throught the entire cooling system to check it out or sell it but i want to drive it first.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanx JB

check your tps setting that is probably your problem if your tps is mis adjusted it will cause idling problems, excessive fuel usage and a weird idle problem much like what you described
