first you have to ask your self what you want . a some what stock mr2 ? a moded to hell mr2 that might make it to a car show? and no it does not cost 1000$ to get 200 hp from a mk1 we use to punch them out cam them up make a header and slap a big nasty 4 BBL on them . in the end no one is telling you the problims. your gonna burn up any beefed up motor if you plan on driveing it around town,.

i have not personally messed with alot of 4 cylinders but in my theory the 16 valve head would have alot more potential than the 20v. heres why; in my sweet little world it is a fact that 1 three inch pipe will flow mjore than 2 2 1/2 inch pipes and if you think about it a port is just a bent pipe and since you are adding more valves to the cylinder you must shrink the valve szie it will and the smaller valves will not flow asmuch aire as the big ones so to cmplete my rambleing 4 big valves will flow more than 5 smaller ones.

^ A 5-valve design has significantly more total valve area than a 4-valve design. It's simple geometry.

wow you make a good arguement enzospriggs...i agree with you. so someone said something about a supercharger..... the stock supercharger only ads around 22 hp and how much of a problem would it be to put it on a 4a-ge? i have been thinking of doing that to mine....but finding a stock supercharger in good shape is kinda hard.

Look man, you asked the question of how to get 200 hp out of your stock 4a-ge block, and you want to do it on a small budget around 1k. Your kinda on a limb here because hp isn't cheap. Your best option is to do a motor swap either to a 4a-gze or a 20v because these motors have the potential to handle either boost or has a higher base hp rating thus your already closer to your goal. Now I'm new to the 4cyl world and especially the mr2 world myself but I know simply that building hp costs money. You can do all the research you want on what the 4a-ge can do but unless you find someone who has done it your only going off theory and guesses. And believe me sometimes saving yourself a hassle is worth spending some extra $$$. I want to hit 200 hp myself but I'm going a different route, boost...
And hopefully trying to keep myself from being burned and getting a bad reputation on a site I'm new at, I did not mean to step on anyone's toes or offend anyone. |
