I personally have never seen that but it could mean abuse or the bolts were just loose or too short (less likely from nature of picture but not impossible). I broke the top gearbox mount after a ten foot drop in a rally but the bolts broke not the gearbox housing. They take some stress to break I would be looking at the underside of the car for warping/scraping. That aside a machine shop can fix this but it is tricky. The broken piece will have to be argon arced back on and the stripped hole can have a steel insert thread wound in (same process used for stripped sparkplug holes for noobs that manage that) or if you are not too concerned about bolt size the holes can be retapped for a bigger bolt size and that is far cheaper and preferable. The stripped thread is not as big a problem as the broken piece cause welding is not all that good for high stress unless done really well. If you can find a blown box and use the housing that would be good otherwise find a good engineering shop unless you have an argon arc welder handy. Depends on where you live and what you have access to.

Well since the transmission housing is cast aluminum its very possible that it could have had a stress fracture from the factory or just by nature of cast aluminum been weak from the start.
