make your own, it's very simple.
here's a copy of what i did back in 04 from *cough* another mr2 forum. i pulled the shifter knuckle bit out and traced the casing's shape onto some 3mm aluminium sheet. the knuckle needs a plate with a hole the size of the plastic doobie that the shift rod ball swivels in to stop it pulling out. traced it out and marked the holes, drilled the holes. cut it out with the ol jigsaw (man i cant wait to buy an airsaw). gave it a little sand on the edges and bolted it up. now the kit i have seen used thick plate to space the shifter down, i couldnt be stuffed trying to cut the thick stuff and just spaced it with washers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The one I have is the stock shifter cut down. The knob sits right above the cable mount. It seemed so short when I first installed it it was so short now Im getting used to it and its feeling long.

but just cutting the shaft shorter does not change the throw of your shift.

To be quite honest I have never seen the need for a short shift in a 2 as it is a really good stock shifter. I can shift fast and comfortably if need be and the only thing that stops me shifting faster are the clutch and syncros and unlike some hondas I've driven its not like looking for gears in a pudding bowl. And as for cutting it feral4mr2 is right chopping the shifter does not make it short shifter (as in quick easy precise gear changes with minimal movement) just a short shifter (as in the shift lever)....that sounds retarded but I know what I mean.
