Cool fuel inector plug not working

My MK1 motor is been rebuilt recently and finally got it running. one problem: my fuel injector plug for cylinder 1 is not working. I unplugged the spark plug wire from cylinder #1 and nothing happens it stays the same (idle). i tried to switch around the wires in different injectors and does the same thing. what could it be? what is causing it not to work? I really need help on this one. any suggestions?

Does the fault follow the injector plug when you move it? Have you tried replacing the injector itself?

injectors are new. is just that one of the connector is not getting spark. so i bypassed it with the #2 connector to #1 and it gets some spark, but the motor gets worse and is burning fuel like crazy and white smoke coming out of the exhaust smelling like pure fuel.

New OEM injectors? That must have been expensive, do you know what size injectors they are?
