Unknown problem, need help.

I heard a pop or something that fell out of my car, it sounded like it came from the passenger side in the engine bay. I pulled over and looked in the engine bay, nothing seemed out of place. I looked at the gauges and things were fine. But when I got home, my car smelled like burning rubber.

I know what I'm describing is very vague, but that's all I know. So, if you have any idea what it could be. It would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Best advice is let the car sit over night and see if there is any fluids dripping on the ground. If not.....grab a flashlight and start your search. if you can't find anything, I would run your car for 10 minutes keeping a close eye on it and then see if you can figure out where the smell is coming from. usually with burning rubber...there is smoke.

Thanks. I'm waiting over night, I don't feel very optimistic about what's going on. I just got my car back from the shop two weeks ago.

Once I left a wrench in the engine bay and drove off. It did something similar.

True story.

I don't know what happened, but I woke up checked for leaks and took it on a drive. It seems fine though, so I don't what happened or where that smell was coming from. But things seem fine.

May be a stupid question, but have you checked whether your alternator belt is still there?

Thanks, I'll take a look into that. But I'm sure, it's not a big deal or I could be wrong?...

Just keep an eye on it over the next few days and drive easy. I'm sure you would have found out by now if it was a tie rod or a transmission.

I actually heard something CLANK really loud the other day and I now have my entire front suspension off my MR2 and realized tonight it might have been the socket rolling around in my frunk

Not a big deal if you dont use your A/C anyway. You can just take the A/C belt off as a temporary solution
