Timing Belt Guide
How important is it to install the timing belt guide (that goes over the crank pulley)?
I am missing mine - just bought the car and some work was needed - and I cannot find a place that carries them. If I do need this, do common stores such as Napa carry this item? Thanks, I've got a 1985 with a red-top |

I'm not certain what you mean by "timing belt guide". If you mean the lower timing belt cover, I have run my car without an upper or lower cover for years. Though in one snow storm, I did have the timing belt turn 180° and still stay on all the pulleys, etc… (It was tighter than a [fill in your own description].) A relatively easy fix, but inconvenient.

You prolly mean the little plate that goes on the end right? Let me put it this way:
How important is it, that the timing belt stays on that itty bitty pully?? I think you know the answer.... |
