Drops in idle
Hey all,
So I got the timing belt guide (and some other random stuff) figured out and put back on. Now it runs but it's very strange once it's warmed up. It idles and then drops in idle then back to "normal". sounds like this visual: -------.---------.---------.--------.----- Do you think it's a vacuum leak or something similar? I haven't gotten to adjust the timing to be exact yet since it does this when it's warmed up. Thanks in advance |

Update on information:
I just tried to set the timing with the timing light. I set it up with the connections bridged for the first line and the pin. Now I noticed when it would dip, the timing would go far off. As in the first line I was setting up with the pin was far to the left of the pin. I'm thinking this is a red flag for something but I don't know enough about this car (or maybe cars in general) to know what is not working. |

I would check all your vacuum lines, make sure they are all solid and tight. Then make sure your timing is correct.

I recently purchased another MR2 where the majority of the vacuum lines were capped off so I decided to do some playing. I had already traced most of the vacuum lines and they are all set (except one... the VTV is missing). I unplugged the one from teh EGR system to the temperature sensor (the blue topped one) and Walla! It no longer revs up and down. I'll take a picture later to show what I have done. It's not a permanent fix but it certainly is exciting.
Thanks for the response. |
