3S-GE has a funny intake
I was looking at a mr2 with a 3sge. and i notice that the intkae runners come over the valve cover, you know like near the exhaust manifold. I was wondering how would that stock intake fair under boost compared to the 3sgte intake?

Theyre side mount throttle bodies so theyre already better than the 3SGTE one IMO.
Quite a few successful turboed 3SGEs. I got a guy on Celicatech that has one that makes more power than a comparable 3SGTE. He has a better turbo than a stock GTE tho. |

It is true. Some people think thats better in some ways. Airflow is controlled several ways. On the GTE they used lower cams with less duration and bigger ports. On the GE they used higher camas with more duration and narrower ports. They say the narrower ports pushing higher velocity air makes for a better torque curve. There has to be a point where that curve loses optimal efficiency but I dont know where it is.
I just know that the GE does make for a decent turbocharged motor. |
