Mr2 93 NA 5FSE Troubles
I have a 5FSE rebuilt. Bigger pistons, cams, injectors, headers, exhaust, air intake. I'm having trouble Idling it. I think It's running a little rich but I'm not sure so I bought an Apexi Super AFC II Controller to solve the problem. I tried to find the Repair manual but there isnt one anywhere around here. I just need the ECU Pinout for the 5FSE. Anyone have it?
Also I should be pushing over 200 in this NA. ![]() Will dyno later. |

Like I said in the PM's you sent me, idling at 1,000 RPMs, especialy with the mods you have listed, sounds completley normal to me.
Get the AFCII hooked up, work with that a little, then get it on a Dyno IMMEDIATLY. We're all VERY excited to see the possibility of a 5SFE putting 200 to the ground naturaly aspirated. Also, after you have the dyno results, please post how much it cost you to get it to that point. You may not know this, but if you could achieve 200 NA HP with a 5SFE, and not have it cost some ungodly ammount of money, you would finaly put a very old argument to bed in the MR2 community, and we'd all be very grateful. I want to see this happen! |

Yes, id like to see the dyno as well. What is your total cost invested so far? Which cams are you running and what are the specs on the pistons? How about your fuel, which injectors and have you upgraded the oil pump?

Who did your cams and what are the specs on them? Also what compression ratio? A good full write up with full specs is required.

200 rwhp on a 5SFE? Any headwork? Valvetrain? Higher capacity pump to go with those injectors? And you're tuning it on a SAFC2? o_O

Note you he hasn't taken it to a dyno yet...
However... without extensive head work or an EMS/fuel pump I'm having a hard time believing it right now. But we'll see! With the mods you listed I'd guess you'd be putting down closer to 140-150 RWHP. |

The stock fuel pump is fine for just about any NA 5sfe you could build. It has been tested to safely flow enough fuel up to 235rwhp at the stock pressure.
Like everyone says don't get your hopes up for 200rwhp. It is pretty much impossible to hit that using the stock ECU. There are a few reasons why, the first being the 6300rpm rev limiter. You would need to be producing 167rwtq at 6300rpms to get 200rwhp and that would take not only head work but some very aggressive cams that the stock ECU couldn't idle. Think 272 advertised duration and high lift. Also the headers and intake manifold would have to be tuned to that rpm and you would need to be running high compression pistons to get that kind of efficientcy. Don't get me wrong I believe that a 200rwhp 5sfe is not only possible but will be built in the near future but not without an EMS. I would be very interested to know what cam profile are you using? What size injectors? Do you have forged pistons? Be very careful with the SAFC if you have much larger injectors because you will have to pull alot of fuel which will in turn advance timing on the stock ECU. Watch for signs of detonation. It will hesitate when the ECU starts pulling timing because the knock sensor is being triggered. If the timing advances too much or it goes too lean the knock sensor will not save your engine. Here's the 93 ECU pinout: http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/9...upinoutjd0.jpg |
