So, I'm a new (read: NOOB) MR2 owner. I got the car and the clutch is almost gone. It is a 1995 NA model. I already got a clutch and aluminum flywheel on eBay. Any idea how many hours it should take a mechanic to install these? The dealership said $1040!
I thought this was a 2-3 hour job. Thoughts? Also I'm looking for used upgrades to buy -- cat back exhaust, NON-CAI intake, maybe headers. Don't feel like putting too much money in this car ![]() |

MR2 seems like a strange choice of cars to buy as a temporary car until you can get a Porsche Cayenne or really any SUV for that matter
Well, whatever. Enjoy it while you have it. |

- Cheap (trying to save money) - RWD (will never drive anything FWD again) - Fun to drive - Reliable (just spent $1k on *minor* repairs for my Range Rover) - Decent looking The mid-engine layout is basically a bonus here. I should probably mention that I just sold my 1995 BMW 840Ci with about $20k in mods. For what I paid for the MR2, there is nothing that can compare with the "fun factor" considering I already have a liter bike ![]() This is working out well -- I will do whatever wrenching I can on the MR2 (Not the clutch though), will learn how to take turns a little better in the hills, and just have a fun car I can customize if I wish. Then I can turn around, sell it to the next guy, take a $1k loss or whatever, and finish off the deal in a few days. It took me 6 months to sell the 840! |
