Exclamation Sput sput pop...die

Ok,so those of you who have been following my threads know the deal with my newly aquired MR2.Ok,inspite of all the crap I have on my hands I decide to make the best of it and begin my long list of repairs. Today, I got knocked out the way rubberized undercoating for the trunk and inside it to stop the rust with a precoat of rust stopper.I rip out all the carpet and find rat poop,a huge spider(wolf spider),ant nest, and guess what?,yep, you got it,more rust. So after I tackled all that successfully I give the car a minor tune up. You know plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and rotor button. Well the rotor button and cap where the wrong one's but what can you do. The good news is the plugs looked really good just a little white(heat) but nothing to be alarmed of. Long story short I drive home me and my buddy and everything is good car seem to like to news plugs and I'm happy. I get about 500 yards from my neigborhood and I step on it and I hear POP,sput,sput,die...I start it back up and I hear what sound like two cylinders. There is no oil (yet) and I park the car and try it again it will start so that's good. She still runs but you have to hold the peddle down and it will idle just like crap.I'm thinking it's the timming belt becuase she is spitting flames and runs ruff when you feed the peddle. Is there anything else I should look for to confirm this ?
