anyone have a write-up on valve adjustment?

i own a 3s-ge (1991) and between about 1200-2300 rpm i hear what sounds to be my lifters going! just wonderng if anyone has any experience with valve adjustment and how big the job is? im new to the TOYOTA scene and i was told that the probable cause is the need for a valve adjustment! HELP ANYONE???

OH AND HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL!!! HOPE YOUR 2'S WILL BRING MUCH MORE MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES (good ones) THIS YEAR!

Lifters can be another word for the buckets with shims.

I don't know of an easier way, but you need to get a feeler gauge and check your clearances between the shims and the bottom of the cam lobe. You will need to check the specs for your specific motor, its probably around .010" - .015" When you find out which ones are tight and loose, you can swap some of the shims around to see if you can get some to come back within spec or you'll have to buy the proper size shim from Toyota and replace it with a thinner or thicker shim.

EDIT: Oops, I just realized you wanted to know about the NA engine. *Embarassed* Oh well, this might prove useful as well.
