Supercharge MR2 by Ripp Mods

I have recently spoken with Ripp Mods about buying a supercharger.. They are discontinued... They said if I can get 5 people to guarentee to buy this and put money down. They will produce 5 of them.

So if anyone out there is very interested and serious about this please let me know. I rather supercharge my car then turbo it...

it really is a crappy kit. you'd be really really really hard pressed to find 5 other suckers to pay 3 thousand dollars for it.

Why do you say it's crappy Tom? Have you seen one or inspected one? Seems most people that bought one are happy with them from what I have read.

you could buy an M45 from ebay or something for 100-300 bucks. that'd leave you with 1700-1900 to pay a fabricator to make it work (WAY more than necessary), then spend 1K on a pretty damn decent fueling/timing setup and have a supercharged engine thats ten times better than the rippmods junker.

most people that buy anything expensive are happy with it. people dont like to admit that they spent a ton of money on something that sucks like tein coilovers, or hondas

a centrifugal supercharger will always respond like a centrifugal supercharger. all the downsides of a turbo and supercharger and really none of the upsides. i dont see any specific value in the rippmods. everything it offers could be had with better results for cheaper.

I'd rather buy a kit than go through that hassle.

No. I don't have the cash to drop on one right now, maybe later on down the road if I don't go to a v6.

I talked this kit over with my dad for my mom's Celica when she had it. Really not enough bang-for-your-buck, for us.

no more or less than any other 3.0 inch intake. the weapon r filter is also foam and very low quality.. if you did buy it, its almost mandatory to buy a new filter.

When I first bought my na I was all about doing the Ripp Mods supercharger. I even found one, but no way could I justify that much cash for it at the time. But, I'm still torn because a supercharged 5sfe would be way cool. But, as Tom pointed out.. another $1000 dollars is also needed on the fueling/timing system and tuning to get it right.

Plus, I figured if it were really worth it, we would see ton's of guys running them and Ripp would have never discontinued it. It's not like their isnt a demand... there are enough of us jones'n for a lot more hp out of their mr2. And a ton of people dropping $ into swaps because there is no other alternative.

In reality, I think we all need to hear some real case senarios from several people who are running this system successfully. The only thing I've ever read was about someone who was having issues with keeping the drive belt on the pully.

But, if someone can convince me it's worth it, I will put a deposit down on it.
