GRR! Wipers/Windows

My windows will not roll up and my wipers will not turn on.

I checked into the fuses, all seems fine. In a post title Fuse Pale, Ncturnal gave me a diagram of the fuse box for the 5SFE. Where the bottom row is X'ed out, my fuse panel actually has clips to hold the fuse, and the 2nd to bottom row does not.

The passenger side door lock will lock the doors, drivers side wont. The mirror adjuster works however. I am at a complete and total loss. Anyone have any ideas, similar experiances - anything?

Probably needs a new master window switch to get the windows working again. Not too sure about the wipers though. I would check to see if you are getting power at the connector to the wiper motor and go from there.

yah thats the pisser part. I have a brand new switch i tried and still nada. It worked fine on the driver side but the passenger side would go down (it would go up however). We messed with some jumping once and got it to go down. I tried it agian and nada. Tried to jump power off the lock wires, and ever since then both windows wont do ****. Im fairly confident both motors still work, and since the new switches dont work - i fear its something entireley more messy =(

Bet you anything theres broken wires in the little rubebr boot between the door and the body. This i VERY common, i had it also, it will give strange and sometimes inconsistant behavior because the wires sometimes contact. Try jiggleing the boot around while you hold the switch and see if anything happens. Even if not i would go in with a continuity tester and check all the wires from the switch panel to the connector inside the cars kick panel.

If you pull the harness out of the rubber boot running from the drivers door to the chassis you might even be able to see which wires are damaged. That rubber boot collects an amazing amount of water and doesn't let it run out again which leads to the wires corroding.

If you are able to identify the damaged wires you can just repair it with solder then put a shrink tube over it.

Something I thought of after I repaired mine was to maybe drill or cut some holes in the bottom of the boot so water could drip back out again.

i dont think that would really do much, theres not enough to pour out, at least there wasnt in mine, but it gets caught all inbetween all the wires as a bunch of condensation and along with the bending of the wires from opening and closeing the door i had about 3 wires that were pretty much broken but still working

Thanks for this thread, I can't roll down my pass window with my drivers side, it will work sometimes though, and the passenger side switch doesn't always work on the window. Maybe this is my problem!

That harness on the DS controls windows and locks for both sides. It's likely in the the same spot I described.

This is the writeup I worked off of:
