newb in changing timing belt

i would like to change my timing belt and follow what the BGB says. i just want to ask you guys if this is going to be hard or what should i expect on this task? what kind of experiences have you had on doing this. and is it really necessary to take the cam gear off? i mean that is what it sais in the bgb? that got me confused coz i was thinking its just going to be some of the crank pulley and some connections on the alternator belt and stuff. can you guys share your experiences and information with me. this is my first time and has yet no knowledge or anything about this. thank you very much.

t-belt change is really not that hard, with the proper tools. Removal of the cam gears is if you plan on changing the seals, which you should prob do anyways. If you have the BGB and common sense then it's pretty straight forward.

since we have non interferance engines, i dont ever change timing belts unless they're broken, or i have to remove it for a different repair (water pumps, seals, etc). chances are you'll change it, and something else will come up causing you to just pull it off again!

but like zai said, its really not too hard.. you just need a few good wrenches of the right size. if you have the wrong tools, its a nightmare. an investment in ratcheting wrenches would be a good one for this job, and maaany others.
