what is the correct amount of oil?

i just want to know what is the correct amount of oil to be put on 5sfe engine. is it suppose to be exactly at F or right below F? and if the oil level on dipstick is exactly at F, is this too much or is this ok?

If it is exactly at F that is fine. Just a little below the F is fine too because there is still oil in the head that drains back to the pan. The 5S should take about 3.5 - 4.0 quarts depending on how well the oil drained from the oil change.

If your engine burns oil, 5 quarts is fine.

When the engine is running, it uses quite a bit of oil, so there's usually less than 3 quarts in the pan, even less at high revs.

thanks guys, the reason why i ask about this is i was reading the owners manual today, and its telling me that if its on F the oil is too much, but then again i know that owners manual always play safe and there are some things that is fine if we did not follow what it sais that is why i asked for second opinion. thanks again.

The 5sfe is very tolerant of overfilling. I've talked to people that have put as much as 6 quarts in. TomsMR2 was just telling me he regularily puts 5qts in his.

The 5sfe is very prone to oil starving under heavy corner loading (read: on the race track not the street) and having the extra oil in there will help prevent that.

yeah, i just dump in 5 quarts. the spec is 4.4qts, that extra half quart is perfectly fine, beneficial if anything.

ive NEVER heard of anyone having oil slosh problems, but i have heard of many people starving engines while tracking them low on oil.
