Red face replaced engine high idle rpm

I just replaced my 5fse with a another used one

timing is around 13-15 degrees BTDC

my engine idles at around 800 rpm cold , then after it warms up the engine speeds up and idle at 1200 rpm. i try to disconnect my IAC idle air control valve, but it doesn't do anything at all.

someone mention possible defective temperature sensor will cause high idle, which could be the case after the engine warms up. But where is that located at, and how can i test?

any ideas guys?

First, just so you know stock timing is 10* BTDC. That might account for some of it.

You're talking about the coolant temperature sensor. It's more common for there to be air in the cooling system screwing up the sensor than for the sensor to go bad; have you done anything that might account for that?

As for the testing of it you should be able to find that in the BGB.

i followed the BGB for the timing. I put the jumper wire in the E1 and TE1 diagnostics or something like that and then adjust the timing to 10*

i may have air in the coolant , cuz i did flush it out. I'll bleed the air out and see how it goes. thanks

Make sure you follow the directions for burping the coolant system. It's not as easy as most cars.

Last time I did it I took it one step further. There are two valves in the frunk that you bleed the coolant from. What I did was fit some clear tubing over those bleed valves and run it into a milk jug. I then cut a tall funnel so it fit into the coolant line just right in back and poured a bunch of coolant in and started the car.

It would circulate the coolant letting the air out of the valves as it sucked the coolant in from the funnel.
