Question Timing Belt

Hey Everyone,
I just found this thread today, well i have a 92 Mr2 with a 1994 toyota celica JDM 3sge. When i got the car the guy said it would be a good idea to replace the timing belt soon so since i have to down time i decided to start. Well there were 2 parts that i have found when replaceing the timing belt do i need to get the timing idler or the tensioner?? or both?? Thanks for your help!

It won't hurt to replace them, but its not necessary if they are still good. The only way to check if they are good is when the belt is off - spin them and see if there is any noise or resistance.

As long as you have the t-belt off and you're tearing into it anyway you might also want to consider replacing the water pump if it's called for per milage and check the front main seal for leaks.
