A bit of a weird problem maybe somebody can help!

et me start off at the beginning:

for the last two days i had my car up on jack stands changing the alternator

now i put everything back together dropped it back down and its running kind of off.

I had two vacuum lines taken off the car which i put back on so i do not think thats the case but just to make sure i replaced the one line and inspected the other which looked fine.

The thing is it sounds like its puttering, the idle is right around normal, operating temp is fine.

But when you drive it right at 3-4K RPM the car like studders but at soon as it hit 4 its fine

its really odd,

could it be a bad cat? or exhaust issue?

it has never blown black smoke out

I also checked the plugs out and found them to look black maybe a case of bad plugs?

its a 92 N/A

any help would be awesome!

thanks!

Well, I would immediately assume that whatever happened was a direct result of your working on your car, so I wouldn't assume something happens to go wrong with the cat unless you punched a hole in it with a screw driver or something like that. Ill throw out a couple of ideas, but I don't really have a good idea of what is wrong.

Did you over tension the belt on the alternator causing extra drag on the motor?

Check that your A/C compressor turns freely. When the car is tilted, I think the oil drains from the compressor and it can cause it to lock up. Maybe its binding a little bit.

Hope this helps or at least sparks a discussion that might help you figure out the problem.

I didnt know that you could over tighten the belt

i noticed that the engine did drag a little bit

im going to head out and check it
