Question O2 sensor QUESTIONS...

ok, i have a 1995 MR2 n/a.

i have aftermarket headers.

the stock O2 sensor will not fit because the flange is not removable.

my stock O2 sensor is i believe a single wire.

i cannot find any denso single wire o2 sensors that do not have the flange for my MR2.

now here are my questions:

Would it be a good idea to just buy a Beck Arnley universal O2 sensor and splice it with my stock connector? or does the O2 sensor have to be MR2 specific?

Are Camry 2.2 5SFE O2 sensors the same as MR2 2.2 5SFE O2 sensors?

Anybody have any advice on what O2 sensor i should get and where to get it from?

I have been under my car for long periods trying to find that "so called other O2 sensor". where is it? The only O2 sensor i have found is connected directly
to the lower part of my 4-1 aftermarket headers. Was my other O2 removed due to the install of my headers and Greddy SP?

***TO EVERYONE ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! I HAVE YET TO GET ANY STRAIGHT ANSWERS TO ALL THESE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS.

Any autoparts store will have NGK (NKO) oxygen sensors, pickup one of those.

Costs like $60

New ones are a good idea anyways.

You could just buy the stock style O2 flange from KO Racing and have it welded on?

I just welded normal 02 bung to my custom exhaust and used universal 4 wire oxygen sensor. I'll wire up my a/f gauge to see if it works ok.

my headers are already in the car. welding on a bung now would be a bit too late wouldn't it?

The 4-wire requires voltage to operate the heater. Just be aware if you originally had a one wire you will have to rig something up.

Any exhaust shop should be able to weld one on without too much problem. I also believe that most narrow band oxygen sensors operate at the same stoich voltage but don't quote me on that. So if your uncomfortable having a new bung welded on and if you can find a one-wire that fits your header give it a try.

The 3SGE already had 4-wire sensor right from the factory. That is why I got myself the 4-wire universal one. I have a pic on how to connect one if anyone needs it.

thanks guys...i just ended up buying another universal beck arnley and i also bought a beck arnley O2 sensor for an SC300. from the diagrams, it looks exactly the same as the ones for MR2's. it just has a longer wire. single wire and the connectors match. i'll let ya'll know how it works out when it comes in the mail.

the beck/arnley sensor is a direct replacement and has a removable flange. the best thing about it is that ithere is no splicing involved! it was made for the supra, MKII and the SC300.

I hope the O2 sensor bung is located in the proper location on your headers, after the collector, and not in a single pipe monitoring the A/F ratio of a single cylinder.
