so...yeah...i'm frustrated
So i finally pulled out the car from storage and decided I wanted to put on my aftermarket header and exhaust. I had tried once before to get the heat sheild off the stock header and failed....this time I really worked at it and tried to get the ****er off and just wound up bending it backwards just to access the upper bolts. I managed to undo a couple then found out one of them is pretty much heat welded to the head. Also How do you access the lower header bolts with the lower heatshield in the way....idk so many of you guys have managed to get a header on your 5S but I can't even get the old **** off let alone the new **** on....any suggestions?

just break the bolts off with vicegrips. or angle grind them off
![]() use a short extension and long socket to get the 2 lower bolts, you dont have to remove anything for those. |

PB blaster = god. If that doesn't work, try some heat on top of the PB blaster. If nothing still...that sucks, lol. Stuff doesn't like to come off at all, i've been there but luckily god gave us penetrating lube.

Be careful with wrenching on the head studs. I've seen a few 5sfe's now where the aluminum got a bit rotten and athe studs started just turning.
Shoot me an email if you'd like a hand and I'll swing by. Bet you money i could have it off inside an hour gairloch (at) gmail.com
