Stock noise louder
Just wondering if there is any way to make stock NA a little louder. I can't afford any bolt on mods like short ram or exhaust, because I'm trying to stay in stock class for AutoX here in the states.
I've already removed the small resonator box on the stock intake, but nothing else. Anything else I can do to remain "stock" but get some idle/throttle grumble? |

Why do you want to be louder without the performance?
I'd like my car to be somewhat quieter... Hollow out your catalytic converter, you'll free up some ponys and noise, but no longer pass any aircare. |

for SCCA stock class you can change the catback fwiw...
hang onto that resonator box, technically illegal... and so is gutting the cat (plus its a pretty dumb idea anyway) |

gutting your cats gives ZERO power gain and makes NO difference in sound. it does smell like ass though.
please dont be a ricer and gut your cat. leave it on there, its good. for an estock car you can basically remove your whole muffler.. |

Removing the muffler or replacing it with something aftermarket is the only way to go.. I used to drive my car around with no muffler, but a stock exhaust manifold and b-pipe (2 cats.. CA-spec). It was tolerable during normal driving.. but utterly pointless insofar as performance. Got stupid loud under WOT conditions. Like this: ![]() |
