3SGE Harness question

Has anyone ever tried to wire up a second gen 3SGE. the part that is cut on my harness is the part that goes to the cabin.. If so,how hard was it,and where can I get a wireing diagram from. thanks

So your body harness is cut?

All you really need is the engine harness. If the harness is of the same year as your mr2, it's especially easy.

When I did my 2nd gen swap, I had a 91 mr2, and a 91 3sge engine harness and ecu. The body harness plugs were the same. The only change I had to make was the ecu body plug. I switched it for a 22pin connector from a 91 previa.

The pinouts will be printed on the ecu's pcbs. You're basically going to be matching +b with +b, batt with batt, etc....

The only other difference is that you'll have to run a wire for STA from that pin on the 22pin connector to the starter solenoid wire.

I have made adapters for the ecu plug problem.

I have the body plug that came with the jdm motor. i pluged the body harness plugs to the engine harness plugs and that part is done....... now, there is the ECU plug that comes from the body is different from the 3SGE ECU..... the wires that are coming from the ecu body plug are the same colors as the JDM one but they are in different ports. The JDM plug has more wires though, does this mean I can wire it color to color and the extra wires on the harness will not be used.

Hmmm.... The 3sge harness plugged up, but you're not getting spark now?

If it's turning over, that means the trunk body plug plugs up and is the same year approximately.

Is your coil/igniter bracket grounded? If not bolt it to the chasis in the stock location.

yea the coil and ignitor plug is grounded in stock position. I used a test light on the wires that go to the igniter and all the wires are dead..... there is a plug that comes from the body side that has three wires do i need any of these. this is getting fustrating

Check the 8pin connector in the fuse box. This is where the power for the igniter (among other things) comes from. What you may notice when you pull the plug out is that there are a few wires on the harness that don't have corresponding pins in the fuse box.

These will most likely be the black and red 12v power wires. If you bridge the one that has the 12v pin to the ones that don't, you will get power to your igniter.

This is most likely what is going on with both of your coversions.

In addition, b12ian86 will need to bridge +b and fc on his diagnostic connector to get fuel going if no wiring has been done for the fuelcontrol circuit.

MR220V was right.... I pulled the pins out of the JDM harness and bridged them and now im getting power.... It started up today..... But it wont Idle.. I checked all the connections and I cant find the problem... It idles if you hold the gas just a little bit but if you try to accelerate it just dies out.... what do you think that is?

jumper +b and fc on your diagnostic connector. If it starts and runs, recheck your FC pin wiring.

If the JDM harness comes with the 22 pin then just use it........ My car is finally running. The ACIS (the sensor under the throttle body) was full of carbon so i cleaned it out and the fuel pressure regulator was bad. I purchased an adjustable one from a local shop..... My car idles strong and and revs Beautifully........ Thank you MR220v, you have been alot of help
