Nice. That will be very cool to see especially once you get the wideband. What other mods do you have? If you are close to stock maybe you can settle the whole "5sfe runs rich" thing with actual data.

Thanks Pearljammzz. I couldn't believe how nice and clean your 94 is either. It makes me want black and tan in mine too.

Here are the pics of my stock, unmodified ECU:

The only difference between this one and the one in the car it I soldered the 17.34475Mhz crystal on in place of the 16Mhz. It's just two solder points (2 legs) and it doesn't matter which way they go.

I had to order one from a local electronics store who then included it in their big order from Digi-key. Apparently Digi-key has a rather large minimum order. Also it took me over a month to get it because enough other people needed to order stuff first from them for them to place the order.

The 5vzfe has two processors and two crystals. One runs at 16Mhz and the other runs at 8Mhz. Here's a bad cell phone pic. One crystal is near the bottom and the other is near the top directly opposite to it:

So more then likely you can increase the clocks for both processors by about the same percentage and it should work. You might even be able to get away with just the 16Mhz but someone will have to try to find out.

Hey, I also went back to the electronics store today and ordered some different frequency crystals to try. I want to try an 18Mhz next which is a 12.5% change. I was wrong about the price as they were $1.62 each and not for the pair like I though. I know for some of you 5sfe guys that is going to put you off but I though I would set the record straight. lol Also I did the math wrong when I calculated the fuel cut. The 17.34475Mhz crystal actually moves it up to 7046rpms.

Just an update... I put the 18Mhz crystal in today and tweaked the fuel maps a little to compensate for the change. I logged over 7300rpms before it hit fuel cut and it runs great. Also went to MMP last weekend and thrashed the hell out of it for three 20 minute sessions and it lapped it up. (pun intended) Being able to take it up to 7000rpms and actually having power there is awesome.

Are you NA or turbo? If you are NA the stock pump will hold you to well over 200rwhp.

At the risk of sounding like an idget, will my engine handle this if it is pure stock or is some modification required?

It's a good question. I can think of only one reason you would ever do this to a stock motor and that is if you are racing in a stock class and need to hold a gear just a little longer to keep from having to shift. It won't buy you any more power. The 5s doesn't breath up there without cams and I am not confident that the stock rod bolts will handle the revs if it could. It is just a cheaper way to raise the rev limit without a stand alone ECU but you need the other mods first.

this is VERY interesting mr T.
have you opened up a later ECU? is it the same?
i can eliminate rev limit with the emanage ultimate, but it would be good to know for the guys running the SAFCs.

I think they would be the same up to the point where they went distributorless. If you open one up and see just one crystal and it says 16Mhz on it then it should work the same.
