Electrical / Starting issue

Having a problem when i go to start my car. I can't figure out if it is the starter or maybe the pos battery cable.

i have power (sometimes faint) and then when i turn the key i lose all power
and nothing happens. If i mess with the positive battery cable (sometimes for like 15 mins at a time) it will finally start. Is the cable shorting or is the starting shorting it?

you probably just need to tighten the battery terminals.

check your ground and make sure you've got good connections
