Fuel filter torque?

I was talking to a customer at work today (Autoparts store) and he wanted to know the torque specs for this banjo bolts on his fuel filter.

I told him to check his repair manual. Then mentioned that I just did mine and I just "snugged it up" until I thought it was good.

He said something about needing to align the holes in the bolt with the hose. I told him it probably wasn't a big deal, I've never done it for brakes or anything else, and I've never had a problem. It should all just flow around everything.

Now its 1am, and I've been online doing car stuff all night.... and I'm thinking here.... Does it really matter? or should I just go to bed and forget about it?

its sort of the same setup as an oil drain plug.. no one ever torques those

most filters like that have a notch that holds the hose in place so it doesnt flop around , but thats not really relevant to how tight the bolt needs to be.

So its like I figured. Torque isn't required to "line up the holes".

Thanks.
