My Car Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!Help

I just picked up my car from the mechnic for suspension problems, and while they had it I had the see If they could fix my idle issue (2K rpm). They fixed It but now when I take off Its almost as the car Is loading up are somthing. no throttle response at all, sounds as i im hauling but nothing, kinda jerks not hard but noticeable, through all the gears as im accelerating. One thing I did notice the rubber cap from the screw everyone says dont touch on the intake. It ran a heck of alot better when it was pushing 2k rpm's any help would be appreciated

Can you find out what exactly they did to fix the high idle issue?

Chris, what you're saying doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense.

They fixed It
What is it idling at now?

Um, what the does that mean? Be specific in describing your symptoms.

No throttle response means no revving. "Sounds like hauling" to me means the engine is revving hard. So .. which is it?

You mean like it's misfiring?

That screw is the idle speed control and it's on the throttle body. If they lost that rubber cap they need to replace it. Eventually water will get in there and corrode that screw making it impossible to turn if you have to adjust your idle. Messing with it isn't going to hurt anything and they probably futzed with it in trying to correct your idle. Unfortunately high idle is a bitch and a half to correct. I bet they just retarded the hell out of your mechanical timing and now it's out of spec and not running right. Don't suppose you have access to a timing light, do you?

Btw, if I'm right then stay the hell away from that shop. If they're losing pieces of your car and doing half assed "repairs" they're just going to mess things up further in an effort to lighten your wallet in the shortest amount of time possible. Ask 'em how they fixed your idle and if they say they changed your timing ask what they set it to. If they say anything lower than 10* btdc (10 degrees before top dead center) then cut 'em loose. I wouldn't even pay for the "work" they did on the engine. Just so you know, the higher that number is the more advanced your timing is. The smaller it is the more retarded your timing is.

you can feel the car trying to pick up but it almost as if something is holding it, you can push the accelerator to the floor and you hear a whole lot of air sucking through the intake but the car is not going any faster the (clutch is not slipping) rpms are slowly going up. the car ran great before they adjusted the idle, Idle was just high

I'm 90%+ sure that they retarded your timing too far.

I doubt thats what the problem is. I dont think that would effect the lack of power issue. I'm w/ gairloch...I think it may be the timing. I know you can turn the distributor and mess w/ the timing a little. You might want to try that chris and do some test runs to see if it gets back to where it was, power wise, before you took it ot the shop.

My car is also idling stupid high. Is it something I can fix myself or should I have it looked at when I take it to the shop to have some other work done? If its something I can do myself I would rather do that.
