a couple problems

hey guys, i've been dwelling the forums for about a year now and a about 6months back i picked up a project that i have been slowing working on. between school and work i try to make as much time for me to tinker with the car as possible. In the last few weeks i've actually got it to run but am having a few problems. oh yeah its a 92 and yes i swapped another 5s into it.

now the problem is when i turn the key off it takes the car a few seconds to actually die. thinking maybe an air leak somewhere? which leads me to my next question, my idle is high and the pedal feels weird. when i blip the pedal there is a delay in the rev(only slightly) but also when it goes back down it drops below where it idles at and then it bounces back up. i did some searching and i found that i just need to adjust the cable alittle bit? what do you guys think?

i would normally just play around with it aimlessly like i usually do, but i dont have nearly as much free time as i use to. your thoughts will be much appreciated.

Clean out the throttle body to get rid of sticky carbon buildup (good maintenance) and I would check to see if the throttle cable is binding anywhere.

I can't say for sure on the 5f, but on my 4a the cable has nothing to do with the idle and can be removed completely while the car idles so I'd start somewhere else. As Ben mentioned try cleaning out the throttle body. EGR systems gunk it up really bad.

check timing

check your timing. if you can play with the distributor see if it drops in idle and has a faster reponse time.
