Should I bother replacing the flywheel?

I am swapping the clutch out on the 2 cause it was slipping. I bought a new flywheel but it didn't come with new bolts.

BGB says to use new bolts. Also see pics for flywheel condition.

Could I just use the old bolts and the new flywheel?

Oh and how the hell do you get the bolts off/on? I could see jamming something in between the teeth and the block; at the risk of it slipping and/or damaging the teeth.

Thanks for any input.

when i did my clutch job last year, i re-used my old bolts. nothing wrong at all. i recommend resurfacing the flywheel so that it's true. i got the bolts off with an air-gun. make sure you mark the position that it's in.

Did you use the air gun to get them back on? Mark in relation to what?

yup.. re-use the bolts... and yes, when I helped a friend, we used impact gun to torque them but we didn't go trigger happy and held on it. After u use the impact gun for a while, you can kinda measure about how much torque it is...

well you can re-use the bolts and torque them down to specs if you really want to follow by the book toyota sells them for about 50 bucks (been awhile since my swap.)

You can buy torque sticks for impact guns. Not sure how they work, but its an extension and it only allows it to go to a certain torque, and then the stick twists a little, and it doesn't spin anymore

If you don't have an impact gun, you can remove the bolts by getting a wrench/ratchet on the crank pulley bolt so that the crank/flywheel doesn't spin.

Well I have a new flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch so all the recommended markings are null cause i'm not putting the old stuff back on.

$50 for the bolts is kinda ridiculous because the new flywheel was $54. The old ones are in good shape. I'll just put some loctite on them when i put em back in.
