I've done it before. It's a stupidly idiotic modification. The only reason I did it, is because I didn't have a muffler at the time, it was on order.

I cut the stock NA muffler open and partially gutted the insides. Left the three chambers intact but took out the cross pipes. Then I cap'ed the inlet and ran the downpipe straight into the center of the muffler. It's mellow at idle, raspy under throttle, not terribly annoying anyways. Did it for a V6 swap.
