Odd whistiling on cold start at low rpms

So, like the title says, on cold starts the car kind of whistles (almost sounds like a turbo wind up but louder). The sound increases and becomes higher pitched until about 3500rpm then stops. Any ideas? If the car is started warm it doesnt do it.

where is it exactly coming from? this might sound too obvious but do you have aftermarket intake? because mine does that but i have ebay intakes though. on cold start the idle is high so it will suck more air and when its warm the idle is where it should be and maybe thats why you dont hear it when its warm already.

plus i dont think its as bad as mine. i have a weird noise something like its hitting the valve covers or something below 1800 rpm and after that it will run smooth.

No, but it does seem like its coming from the intake area. Maybe its a clogged filter or something.

My Google Map

My 84 with the 3sge does this. I found it is the IAC drawing from the aftermarket intake making a sucking/whistling sound. I have no back window so I can hear it really well until I punch the gas

I could see how that may be annoying at a stand still.
