Speedometer not precise

Like the title says;

Last night i was driving down a street that had one of those speed detectors, (the kind that remind you if your going over the limit by blinking.)

my car speedometer said i was going 40mph, but the radar said i was going 33mph.There where no cars around me, so i KNOW it was detecting me and me only.

is there a way to calibrate the odometer?

what size wheel/tire do you have? Changing the size of the wheel/tire changes what your speedo reads vs how fast you are really going.

if your tires, wheels, and suspension are stock.. whos lowered with rims picture did you steal for your avatar?

old 80's speedometers are notoriously inaccurate.. try to borrow someones gps and see how far you're off at 60.. it'll be more and less accurate at varying speeds.

You can't calibrate the speedo since it is mechanical and driven be a cable. Have someone drive next to you and see what they have in comparison to you

Ive got a 91 NA and I noticed the same thing. I noticed the same way you did then had someone drive behind me and tell me how fast I was going. Its pretty consistantly 5mph slower than what my speedometer says Im going.

look at it this way
since your going "slower", and you get popped for 70 in a 65,.. A-HA
lol, orr it will count less mileage
