It isn't all bad when you lose... trust me, my lightly modded N/A isn't THAT fast, but it is fun. I've toyed with an NSX in it before and the NSX would pull away in every straight but I'd reel him in on the corners and be right back on his bumper... I definately wasn't faster but it was still fun
. My buddy got to run a Lambo, SS Camaro (very heavily modded), and a C5 Vette a few days back... he could take the Lambo off the line from a dead stop to about 60-65 then it flew past... the SS Camaro was doing laps around the other guys (literally) so I wonder how the Lambo owner felt? Granted, he couldn't drive and wasn't launching the car properly, but still. That probably had to smart a little... especially with the Camaro guy literally lapping them, lol. I lost plenty of runs back when I had Mustangs and even a few back when I had Corvettes, and it is a letdown... but it isn't really a big deal in the larger scheme of things. Now if you've spent $150K on a Ferrari and you get stomped on by some kid in a Corvette with rookie stripes on the fender, maybe you need another hobby. That is a different story there. |

your right, i used to have a 1991 Honda Accord (CB7) 2.2, and i raced some guy with a 1993 camaro, and i took him off the line... i was inpressed at my cb7, but then again. i dont even know if he flored it... then again,he did burnout at the launch tho.
he must of let off once he saw me pulling away. |

my old 89 sc I believed weighted about 2650-2750 with a full tank off gas, according to my research back then the S charger added an extra 150ibs but it was fast really fast and fun, it would come off the line with FURY,it would gap away a 91na real quick and that's before the built 89 jdm block and the re-worked head,hks/nevo 10psi pulley.i have beaten these cars of the line with the 89sc:mustang gt 5.0,mk4 supra non turbo, wrx 2.0t,camaro z28,350 nova,

I own a Mk.1 NA and want a Mk.2 NA. Does the extra torque from the 5SFE make it "seem" a lot faster around town than the 4AGE?
For those of you who own or have owned both - which one did you prefer? Which one brought a " " to your face more often? lolBtw, is the fuel economy on a Mk.2 about the same or a little worse than the Mk.1? |

Fuel economy wise the mk2 na 5sfe on the freeway sucked a little more gas barely noticeable but city driving you definitely noticed it,plus the mk2 has a bigger tank, and thats with a tune up done to my mk2. with the 91na you will definitely noticed the torque of the line.its good for city driving you will appreciate the usable torque there no denying, 1.6 against a 2.2 there's no mystery. To answer your second question it all depends: ive own 85,86,87,89sc,455hp 93t,and current 91na,I like them all if you like the modern look get an mk2,if you like the boxy look keep your mk1.my track experience with the mk1 has more more under steer but you feel more connection with the car, just set the suspension right and your good.but the funnest one of them all is my old fully built 89 super red sc. the sound of the whining is intoxicating. |

I love that whine
![]() I found my mkII is a lot more comfortable and a better highway cruiser. My mkI is a nice town car it is nippy and means I can sequel it through gaps and across intersections. My mkI feels a lot faster than the mkII but the mkII sounds cooler. Both are good but if I had to choose I'd have my mkI it has 80's style and boost ![]() |

![]() ![]() I had the same thing happen to my gze in my racecar, a 4agze with n/a throttle body and a couple other little mods popped its top but I decided I wanted a bigger motor so put a 3sge in it. Big difference I take off in second on the gravel otherwise it just wheelspins and goes nowhere even with little throttle. You can go a long way in second before you need to upchange on a twisty course ![]() |

If i remember correctly my MKII weighs 2450 with me out of it. I weighed it on the scales at work so i know it is pretty accurate. my Na has all options minus power steering and abs.
Im gonna weigh it again tomorrow and see. And dang 328FTW that is a nice 3sge setup there. Last edited by countyboy3188; 07-01-2009 at 09:30 PM. |

Torque will definitely make it feel faster off the line. The problem with the 5SFE is that it doesn't hold its torque after it peaks, so it loses out on horsepower.
My 1MZ feels fast, but it's just quick like a 5SFE in torque production. A 3.0L 5SFE with two cylinder heads, two torque peaks, and more power. ![]() |

Thanks it took hours of sanding/polishing to get the intake runners to look like they do. Just want to tuck away some of the hoses, not a full tuck just a tidy up. One day I might actually get around to making the rest of the car look the same

I like the mk1.5 swap, after I put the 3sge in my racecar I have a much broader powerband and torque down low which was not what the 4agze had it had great midrange but down low it sucked in comparison. Beams would be nice for a DD in a mkI. |
