bleeding my clutch fail. is my master cylinder messed up?

Guys i put it all back together and ready to take a spin.
i've been trying to bleed my clutch for about 2 hrs.

maybe im doing someting wrong.
or maybe my master cylinder went when my flywheel did?

i have my sister punp the clutch pedal and i tell her to hold it down then i open the nipple in the back and let the air/brake fluid out.

she pulls the pedal up and again!

now i get solid liquid in the back but no pressure.

the pedal goes up but lags and sometimes it dosent come up.

have any idea i really wanna have the car done by today before school/

You and your sister seems to be doing it just fine. Do you see fluid at all come out of the slave cylinder when you open the valve? When I upgraded to SS clutch line, I was able to just fill up the reservoir, pump the clutch while my brother open the valve and was good to go.

i turned the car on and put the e-brake on and pressed the brake.
i put the clutch all the way down and put it in 1st.
i let go of the clutch slowly (doesnt come up fast at all.
and when it does start to come up i can see the rpm go down like when the clutch engages.

im starting to think my master cylinder is ****ed up since my slave is new.

Yeah, same as bleeding brakes.... Is the clutch pedal hard at all now or still soft? Mine comes right back up even if if there was air in the line its just that theres no pressure there. Maybe your master cylinder is clogged somehow? :..... You do have the reservoir open as you bleed the line right?

yea the reservoir is open.

um..
its not hard but it isnt soft.

and if i pump fast it goes up and down.
but if i do it slow it stays down.

it seems to move the slave with no problem.
think i need a new master?

Thinking you still have air somewhere. Maybe need to remove master cylinder and bench bleed it then put it back in. Everything is in the BGB. I'm thinking there is a line in the cylinder so even if your sister holds the clutch pedal down, that air bubble just stays at the end and when she lets go, it goes back. Master cylinder don't brake that easy so I don't think u need to replace.

My master went bad and I replaced it. Me and a mate worked at it for hour trying to bleed the ****er, with the tube and everything. Then I left it for a week, dad said he would sit there and pump and within the first few goes it was ready to go.
So it was impossible to do, then wait a while and it was easy to do, so im guessing its just very hard to get the air completely out.

Even if u buy a new one, you'll still need to bench bleed it. Its all in the BGB.. Its bleeding the sucker before installing it. then you bleed the whole line.

the BGB tells you how to bench bleed the clutch?

I ordered a new one. gets here in 2 days.

the thing is that i get pressure and it moves the fork but then after 2 or 3 pumps it just stays down.

does the slave pressure relief nipple go bad?

sometimes its very difficult to bleed.

i use a ton of fluid, its easier. just open the bleeder and hook a tube up to it. pump the pedal a bunch until fluid squirts out. then reach up and pump the slave piston by hand until a bunch of fluid squirts out. then close the valve and do the normal pump/open thing. even then you might have to reach up and pump the slave by hand again.

its just a pain in the ass to bleed. air gets trapped somewhere weird. if your master is bad, it'll typically leak.

Hahaha... I just had to bleed my clutch this weekend. P I T A

For whatever reason it would not push much fluid through. I had to resort to the ghetto vacuum bleeder using a gatorade bottle. Got it flowing and then it bleed like normal.

Most autopart stores have hand vaccum bleeders, but it you're in a pinch, Gatorade bottle technique - Squeeze air out of bottle, connect hose from bleeder to bottle (air tight seal on bottle), crack bleed screw, release squeezed bottle, repeat.

If your clutch pedal is getting stuck down it's probably your master cylinder. When I bleed my clutch it took forever but the clutch pedal always popped right back up.

We bleed my buddy's clutch last weekend and he had the same problem. We were even using a power bleeder. We're gonna be replacing his Master this week. I'll let you know how it goes if you haven't figured it out by then.

My Google Map

I remember this from when I did my mk1.5. Took a couple hours of non stop fu**ing bleeding. Me and my dad were pumping like crazy to get the fluid through and it just wouldn't come right. Then after the frantic crazy operation we found a loose fitting sucking air. Was only slightly dripping but it was enough to make the clutch slowly suck air and go funny.
