Question Need help with Ignition!! 91' N/A

So i have a little problem with my ignition system it seems. between 2.5k-3.25k RPMs under light throttle pressure my engine seems to hesitate and surge a bit during acceleration, and once past 5.5k RPMs i seem to lose a bit of power (stops pulling as hard). but under WOT i have no problems..until of course i get to the higher rev band. Any ideas? I was thinking of replacing the coil, distributor cap, rotor, wires, and plugs...am i on the right track here??

you might be. If you need those parts, I have them all.

Ya, I did all of what you did and I gained a bit of power back (just due to the fact that it needed a small tune-up), but I'm still getting the odd little bucking and surging around 2.5-3.25K RPMs and power dip above 5k RPMs...coil is next on my list too!

Well I adjusted the timing and set it back to 10* per factory setting (it was off by a few degrees), and it seems to have cleared up my problem. I don't have the hesitation I used to, nor the drop in power above 5K RPMs. I might replace the coil just because I went ahead and replaced most ignition parts and it's relatively inexpensive. But ya the timing issue seemed to solved my problem!
