MR2 broke down, need help.

Car not starting.

So first of all, My battery was bad but was good enough to get me from point A to point B. Then my brake light swtich went bad which made my car battery die. So I jumped it a few times waiting for my brake light switch to come in. Then after my last jump, it started up, ran for about 1 minute then when I went to drive it, I drove about 10 seconds and the car turned off. We tried to push start. That didn't work. I changed my brake light switch and got a new battery. still no good. Check the fuel line. it was good. check for spark. even changed oout the spark plug. It turn over but it did not start. I even got a new relay for my injectors. I can smell fuel. Any suggestions?

Maybe electrical? or cap and rotar?

alternator is probably already bad.

Does it turn over when you try to jump start it? if not then your starter is probably reached its life so you'll need to change that.

Thanks, I didn't think about that. I'm going to check into that, in the mean time any other suggestions?

It does try to turn over when I try to jump it. I got a new battery and it tries to turn over the same way as if I were trying to jump it.

Blown ecu fuse or something maybe, simple enough to check.

You didn't say, are you getting spark? If not then the first place I would look is cap/rotor/wires.

If a battery has enough power to engage the starter, it has plenty of power for the electrical system/ignition.

Check the wiring on your coil and ignitor.
But first, check the fuse, the reduced voltage may cause a "brownout" where the lower voltage surprisingly causes some electrical equipment to draw more amps.

Do you really think all 4 ignition wires went bad simultaneously? U might want to check the coil wire since it does feed the other four.

+1 on the alternator

couldn't be the starter because he said it won't push start either.

i would just check all the fuse first.

u should check the wire plug that goes into the ingnition coil because if thats loose u wont get a spark it just make the car turn over and thats bout it and it wont jump start so check those wire plug =)
