What Is The Best Suspension Setup?
I have a 91 NA with KSport Coilovers(installed by previous owner). The left front is leaking and i'm looking for a fix. I wanted to just replace the insert but after checking the opinions of others, it seems that there are many others with reliability horror stories with KSport.
What suspension set-ups are you guys running and are you pleased? If you had to replace your suspension, would you do the same set-up again? Thanks in advance |

I use yellow bilstein shocks, probably the best fixed rate shocks for the sw20. Along with some tein springs very good for street use

I've been through stock '91, stock '95 w/ TRD sways, then TRD springs w/ Koni yellows. Now I'm on TEIN Super Streets, inherited from the PO. After my initial hesitance and after driving on the coilovers for a couple of months, I really like them. They're lousy over potholes but I'm surprised how much more suspension travel I have and their real 'independence' from each other, how well they track, they're controllability.
I can't say it's the best suspension ever, but it is quite an improvement over the best that stock has to offer. One thing I'm not yet familiar with, their limits. They don't give me a whole lot of time to react once I've hit it. I've already spun out twice (but it was wet out & I miscalculated). |

"Best" is awfully subjective...
My 2 is mostly street driven, but I do try to get to a few autocrosses and open track events when I can/when the car cooperates. I'm pretty happy with my formula so far: Koni yellow's + TRD springs + TRD sway bars + Two's R Us endlinks + Prothane bushings + new ball joints + new tie rods + a good alignment = win. |

Thanks. I typically am a daily driver with some spirited driving on the weekends. I don't like to beat the car up as I plan on keeping it for a long time.
I have had a few BMWs in the past that had Bilsteins and they were awesome. I just haven't been able to locate any for the Mr2. If anybody knows where I can get a set, it would be much appreciated. I know that "best" is very subjective but I figured the only ones who would respond would be the ones who were passionate about their suspension set-ups. I figure if you can't passionate about what you're doing then why do it? You guys are awesome. Thanks again!!!1 |
