Curious has anyone used a RIPP SDS
I'm curious if anyone has tried the RIPP SDS system? If you have how is it? Have you had any problems with it? I was leaning towards a 3gste swap, but I remembered RIPP offering this system. I know that the Tiburons have had some issues with some of their systems, but it was because of Hyundai's shotty worksmanship. I thought of doing this system for my Tiburon but decided not to, but I am curious if the MR2 system works better. Here's a link

$2700 is pretty expensive and last time I looked they no longer sold it, could be wrong though.

wow, ive never even heard of that. I think for the price though, its better to put your own turbo kit together.
Does this system require you to use an aftermarket EMS? |

Yeah it is pretty pricey.. I'm just trying to see what would be the best route, turbo swap or rebuild engine and do this to it. My cousin can rebuild my engine real cheap and install this. I'm also worried on ordering a 3gste swap and having all the parts necessary to run the car, I know this unit is pretty complete, except for a few items. I haven't e-mailed them to see if they still have it in stock, I know they have been busy with the 3000gts and Tiburon units. |

I figured to see if anyone had tried it before. I like turboed cars, but S/C cars are just as cool..![]() |

for the same price you could have a burien toyota turbo kit.
http://www.poweredbytoyota.com/ssfeturbo.html definetly better off with this than a centrifugal supercharger (worst of both worlds: lag and power loss to power supercharger) but 3sgte swap is by far the most cost effective. |

That's true..Centrifugal superchargers aren't the best around. I'm still pricing stuff, but I guess getting the entire rear clip would be the best thing for a turbo swap, wouldn't it? It should have everything needed I would think. |

His engine is so freaking clean, I wish my engine was that clean. My poor engine looks like they dumped it into a puddle of mud. I really need to wash the poor thing. |

the super is all around safer and cheaper then the turbo in the whole scheme of things when you see everything else that is needed in addition to the turbo. I have read on several post the the 5sfe's don't hold up well to high boost so the 5-9 psi range is safe without constantly blowing through head gaskets. I am considering this same package myself, but wish whoevers car that is who had it could let us know his impressions. I do know that their site for the charger says you'll need to upgrade the fuel system though.
