I know what you mean. Basically the 135hp makes me learn to be a better driver. I have still intimidated several faster cars as long as my launch is pretty fast and smooth which is not always the case (lol). I know anything with a lot of low end torque will just eat me alive so I won't challenge cars I know I can't beat. I still have a lot of fun with it ,but I too wish I had some V-6 power.

Love my NA, just wish it had some more power, especially in the top end. Nothing makes me sad like feeling the power drop off at 5k. That said, I love how little maintainance the 5sfe requires. Might advance the timing after a tune up and suspension replacement.

Absolutely Love My NA!

I just finished a 600 mile road trip and it was an absolute thrill! This car makes people in the other lane drive faster for seemingly no reason at all. Other sports cars rev their engines at stop lights (an extreme compliment by the way).

My 91 is 18 years old now and it does everything I expect a sports car to do. It does a good job of accelerating. It'll take on or off ramps at ridiculous speeds (relatively speaking) and I could just park it, pull up a chair and stare at it all day. Toyota hit it out of the park with this car. Simple but at the same time, oh so exotic. In my whole 600 mile trip I did not see another MR2.

I could go on but the answer is yes....I love this thing.

Im a fan of all motor, turbo and supercharged mr2's ive had them all,My 6th and current mr2 is a 91 na,even though there's not allot of power and soon gets boring its not bad stock, from a start you get a 2.2liter which is not bad and somewhat big for a 4 cylinder engine,it gives you that low end torque advantage that people with 1.5,1.6,1.7,1.8,1.9,2.0,2.1 liter motor people just don't have, all you need is some good cams, and a good head porting and your on your way to a good start, people are always hating on the 5sfe being turboed because it has week rods, bad valve angle, what ever, or 3sgte is more reliable to handle turbo form than the 5sfe.Any motor has potential especially a reliable toyota engine.

It would be great if the 5sfe motor had a little more support in the aftermarket world like a 2.4-2.5 stroker kit from a good company or a aftermarket head with better flow and aggressive cams package,or better yet a package that converts the 5sfe to vvt-li instead of fix timing.last but not least i wish they TRD made a carb legal supercharger for the 5sfe that would be real sick!!!! especially combine with a stroker kit! it would steal sales away from the 3sgte.
