Quoted from my site.....

Quote:
....I'm a very big fan of the NA MR2. They are great fun to drive and I don't have any of the hassles that I have with my turbo MR2 like worrying about bumps in the road, leaving it unattended, watching this gauge or that gauge, letting it warm up, letting it cool down, etc. I just get in it and drive it without a care in the world, plus it saves me from putting miles on the turbo MR2. There really is something to be said for a completely stock MR2. I really do love this car. It doesn't mean I don't like my turbo...both cars have their merits, and I like each for different reasons. For anyone considering an NA, they are superb cars, unless you are one of those who just can't manage to escape the "my penis is bigger" mentality and can't come to grips with the fact that your car isn't the fastest on the road. For me, I look forward to driving my NA everyday and recommend one to anybody who can truly appreciate a stock MR2.

I've owned several MK2 turbos over the years and only just a year and a half ago picked up a 95na as a daily driver. It's 98% stock and great for what it is. Better mileage (on 87 octane, too), easier to work on, and actually handles better than a turbo since it has the same suspension and wheels/tires but weighs about 200lbs less. Cheaper insurance, too.

For speed I've had a MK1.5, a turbo Spyder, and the current project - a V6 MK2 swap.

My first thoughts after getting my MKII NA MR2 running and driving it around were "fun car, needs more power". I like the car, but I am used to driving cars that are much faster than a MKII NA.

When my 2 was NA, I just remember it being ungodly slow. The car was a totally different animal with the 3sgte at 15psi, orders of magnitude more fun. That said, my 3sgte did blow up... twice... in the first month and a half I had it.

my girlfriend and i both own 91 na's.. mines quite faster, and really more fun to drive.. it doesnt have much done to it either.

they're painful slow stock, but retardedly easy to give more pep to, for pretty cheap. its not a bad motor. more than a few people have ran mid/high 14's with a few easy mods.. while still not blisteringly fast, its right on par with alot of cars on the road.

its a drastically different motor with some minor work done, one thats quite enjoyable.

Agreed - a good little engine. We've been tweaking Gairloch's N/A and it seems to be coming around just fine.

Altough I did do a turbo swap, I loved my na. Sometimes I wish I still had it na. It was fun just zipping through town, I could open it up and hear the engine sing and not even be going the speed limit. I could give it hell 24/7 and it wouldn't put up a fit. Good times, goodtimes...

I don't mind Negligble Acceleration but I would swap if I had the chance. I would rather swap a beams motor than a 3sgte even if it cost more. Nothing wrong with a turbo MR2, i just have to keep things as cool as possible.
Overall- Yes I love my N/A

I love my NA with a passion. My dads trying to get me to sell it but... eh, im putting it off as long as possible. After driving my turbo for a month or two, i started up my NA to get it running again and took it around the block. It was so punchy! I want to keep them both, but $$ wont allow it

So torn,

I dont have anything to compare it to. The only turbo car ive ever driven is a FWD 93 celica with a 3sgte swap and that was a test drive. I really have become a boost junkie of late ( probably becuase dont have it ), wanting it so badly. But as it stands I would take my N/A right now if it ran, it has so many problems its more of a headache.

Im actually in the midst of decision making right now, do I try to accomplish the impossible and find 3000 for a turbo swap which will take 4 - 6 months to save or get my car back, find a way to ship / tow it to Oklahoma to a cheap reliable mechanic and have him find and fix all he can for probably 7-900 + parts and the cost of getting it there.

Automotive life sucks right now all i have is my daily driver bone stock !Auto! 01 Mustang V6. I was contemplating gettting a used centrifigul for around a 1500 and selling the 2 but I decided against selling it.

So to answer the questin, I just want my car back N/A or otherwise..

Ouch - I can appreciate your pain though. I have been without a running MR2 for about 8 months now.

I like the NA MR2 feel enough that I just purchased a second one! Actually my wife has wanted an MR2 and we found a good deal on one for her - I'm just driving it until my v6 swap is done.

I really do like the way the NA MR2 drives, though. I've been able to drive both the NA and turbo cars under track conditions, and I like the smooth throttle response and driveability of the NA, but like most I wish it had just a bit more power.
