Should i do any apearance mods?
I have a currently 100% stock 91 mr2 5sfe. I have no plans on going turbo with this car. I am wondering if you think i should stay stock or do some mods, how rare are all stock 91's?

I say keep it stock. I've rarely seen a kitted car that I didn't get tired of, or that maintained it's asthetic value. Trust me, the long term upkeep on a kitted car sucks.

Ya, theres not much i can do for performance on the 5sfe though, i mean i cant do headers because you cant have a cat with headers, can you?
Also about the 93 front lip, any comparison pictures, i fail to see much difference in the 2 |

i think the only difference in the 93+ lip is its actually painted, not the plastic look. Just looks a little cleaner.
yes, you can have a cat but its going to be a custom job. And if you live in one of those states that require emmisions every few years, you gotta change your setup out for it. |

I'd do the '94 tails and some decent rims, but other than that, focus on performance.

What Josh meant to say was that in 90-92 the MKII had a front bumper lip that was quite small. In 93 they changed the part to have slightly more depth. In 94 an beyond that part came paint matched to the body colour, it was no longer black.

ya, i want to, but im not the one stareing at my car while i drive it. The other thing is i havent decided if i am keeping this car past highschool. Its not a very practical car, and im just not sure, and if im not keeping it past highschool then i might as well not pour all my income into it and then have to sell it. if i could buy a body kit painted to my cars color, i would do it, but buying a kit (very expencive) getting body work done (very expencive) and then having it painted (VERY expencive) would set me back a lot. I think in the end i will end up getting some nice rims, the regular, clear corners, maybe some tails and possiblly a suspension setup.

id say upgrade to later model mr2 parts as stated over and over in this thread... thats my plan
93 lip 93 rims 94-95 tails suspension is something you might want to look into as well. And for rims dont bother unless they are staggered. Non staggered rims can kill the look of an MR2 IMO try sites like Rbmotoring.com or takumiproject.com for reasonably priced staggered rims IF YOU DO DECIDE TO GO WITH A KIT: id recommend gettin authentic parts or not getting a kit at all Veilside is a dont in the mr2 community. Border looks clean but the front is on everyone and their mothers mr2 (and some replicas fit like ****) Greddy is also clean but the real kit can be pricey and a PIA the find in stock Tom's is pretty clean IMO but is also pretty popular and most replicas have ill fitment ( the real stuff is really pricey) GRT aerodynamics has a cool looking kit but is too extreme for some people. Personally i think its gorgeous. Bomex has some nice kits as well. the type 2 bumper is pretty uncommon and looks great on the right car ![]() basically you'll realize after going to a big MR2 meet that a select few body kits are used and abused by mr2 owners. So being unique in the mr2 community usually involves finding some uber rare body kit or rims because the majority of us have either the stock body or the same types of kits |

It all depends on your goals and how you use your car. I bought my car wrecked, with a partial body kit. I just matched the remaining pieces up and added a Border Urethane front bumper. It was a matter of needing an aftermarket bumper, and wanting aerodynamics as well as cooling benefits.
Remember, a good body kit will cost lots of $$$ and there is a reason other kits are cheaper. If you drive your car much, spring for urethane, it gets less rock chips, and doesn't crack if you curb it. I autocross mine, so it eats a cone now and then as well as being driven daily on the freeway. |

If it doesn't make the car faster it doesn't belong on the car imo.
