i would get somethign that has boost retard control so that you can pull some timing when under boost to help keep detonation at bay
What is your setup going to be like?

thats why im using the msd btm to control timing under boost.
my setup is going to be the ct26 for now, i want the ct20 but dont really have the money right now tmic mkIII supra injectors ssac manifold and 3" downpipe, full 3" exhaust with no mufflers or cat ported and polished head turbo xs rfl bov 3sgte oil pan/map sensor electronic boost controller some sort of piggyback for a/f i also replaced alot of seals, gaskets, timing belt etc. the routine stuff that being said.... with the msd btm should i set the timing back to stock? |

with a good piggyback like the smt6 you wont need the MSD BTM as the smt6 has a boost retard function.
The smt7 has a built in boost controller too :P The ct26 will do you fine, make sure eevrything is tuned right. I have driven a couple turbo 5s's and they are pritty quick! |

its not plug and play but its about 5-6 wires and your laughing.
To make it plug and play the price just jumps and people dont want to pay an extra 200 bucks for that. Its not dumb to ask questions on how stuff works. |

I assume the MT-6 can modify both the MAF and timing values. My question is does it do that through absolute values or offset values?
Thanks! |

The first one used absolute values and completely discarded and OE computer input just like a stand alone. Setting 10 degrees BTDC gave you 10 degrees BTDC unless the piggy-back's knock sensor circuit pulled timing. The other piggy back that I have alot of experience with uses offset or relative timing and MAF values. Instead of changing from 10 degrees BTDC to 12 degrees BTDC by changing a cell from +10 to +12, you would put a +2 in the cell (assuming that 10 degrees BTDC was the stock value). It also uses the OE knock sensor circuit and allows the OE computer to make timing and fueling changes below your map. Very very safe, but you give up some performance potential. With an offset based system, a few good sensors, and some cute tricks in software you can do some really amazing things - like dynamic self tuning. Imagine having your car adjust it's behavior automatically based on the octane of the gas in your tank... It works and can be daily driver reliable. It also works amazing well in big boost, over the top turbo applications - imagine the car adapting not just to fuel, but temperature, heat soak and other conditions automatically. And when are you going to call me about those cams? ![]() |

Ahhh ok so your talking about full tuning vs adding/subtracting type :P sorry i use the simple terms
Yes its a offset based system, similar to what you mentioned above but without th eknock sensor ability. PM me about the cams :P |
