Is the a good 1/4 time?
Hello all, I'm a new comer to these boards. Just moved here from MR2OC per advise of a member here. Anyway, I had a couple of questions.
I took my 1993 N/A down to the late night drags and pulled a 16.08 with a crappy .4 reaction time. Now, I was curious if this sounds about right, good, or bad for my current setup. Here are my current mods (Setup for autocross): 164k miles on stock engine Cone Filter Koni Adjustables Strut Tower Brace Toyo Proxy 4's on 17in ADRs (205/35) Those are the only performance mods at the moment.... like I said my car is raced in autocross more then it's raced in 1/4. Besides this list, my MR2 has the usual subs, stereo and so on with an after market body kit. What do you think? |

Your reaction time has no bearing on what your 1/4 mile time is. The clock starts when you move so you could sit at the line for 15 seconds and still run a 15 second 1/4 mile. Your time seems right on for your mods. Stock is usually mid to low 16's and you're close to 15's. Not bad for a first time out.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out what these cars should be running. This is my first MKII, and my last cars were Z cars all much quicker then this little car. It is a blast in autocross, even if not too quick in the quarter mile...... now I just have to get my springs in, my new hood, and figure out how to fit a V6 into it

thats an average time.. the abnormally quick bone stock ones have hit the random 15.8, but 16.0-16.2 is more common.

Sounds good, this car has a body kit that is adding weight, as well as subs. I figure it should be about stock weight, with the spare tire and junk removed, but I'll find out when I weigh it.

Agreed. Not just the rear though... all around. As for published times, you really have to take them with a grain of salt (and intelligence). Ive seen times published in legitimate magazines vary by up to a second. Im a firm believer that a stock turbodeuce should be hitting consitent mid 14s. But your time is pretty good for an N/A. Grats. What was your 60' time? |

I actually have a set of wheels that are 15's (or maybe 16's) that I want to put some Nitto DOT slicks on for autocross, and I'll try them out one night in drags as well.
